Log repair on Eufaula

For those of you on Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma, I found a welder that can do TIG repair work on aluminum. His name is Jeff Hudson at Awesome Mfg -- 918-618-3066. I took our boat to him last Saturday after pumping out about 20 gallons out of the Starboard log in the stern section (our logs are partitioned into 3 sections). He found the first crack immediately -- the last support had an obvious crack at the top of the log. He found cracks at all 4 mounting points for the last supports on both logs. At first, we thought it was only 1 crack and he was going to charge me $45 to fix it and test the rest of the log. To fix all 4 spots and pressure test both logs cost me $85. I felt that was a very reasonable price to keep water out of the logs since we don't have drain plugs in the bottom. Since the logs are partitioned, the drain ports are in the top of each section. I did finally find a 3/8" jiggle tube to empty the water out before I took the boat in for repair. We got our boat back the next day -- very speedy service.

Always nice to hear about someone who still delivers good service at a reasonable price.

Here's hoping you don't need any further repairs but resting easy knowing that if you do need repairs, you have a good place to go.

In reality we all should have someone lined up should something unfortunately happen. The guy I found did me well enough that when I went to pick it up I slid him another 20 and suggested he treat the family to a pizza. I'd like him to remember me if I should ever need him again.
