Will this wheel work?

My Lowrance HDS5 inch fish finder is mounted in the helm just to right of the steering wheel column. The steering wheel on my Bennington has fairly wide spokes that prevent a clear view of the FF. Would this type of wheel work on my toon? I would use the same size wheel, just the plain thin spokes... are all steering wheels interchangeable (universal) on the shaft?

99.9% YES. Most if not all marine steering systems use a 3/4" tapered (and usually keyed) shaft.

If you don't have a puller and your OEM wheel is stubborn, loosen the nut until it's exactly even with the threads on the shaft, and give it whack with a hammer (and preferably a brass drift). Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response!

I put a wheel just like that on my rebuild and it works just fine with my Seastar hydro steering.
