Mid American Trailer
Does anyone have any experience with Mid American Trailers
looking at a 22' center lift tandem trailer
looks like a good trailer with powder coat and led lights at a good price
only question is why only 3000 lb capacity with two 3500 lb axles
I called them and the lady that answered could not give a good answer
even at 3000 lbs i should be within capacity. only tow boat to my lake house, 3 blocks from ramp and 4 miles to storage for winter
also the center lift allows me to store boat in garage with 7' doors (plan on building a 3 car garage in a couple of years)

Re: Mid American Trailer
Mid America makes some of the best trailers our there, period. I've had trailers that cost twice as much that were built half as well. The thing to remember with trailers is that it's not simply the axles ability to carry the weight, but the entire trailer as a package including but not limited to the frame, coupler, even the tires. And on top of that, the manufacture is going to be conservative on the rating so as to stay out of liability. Go check the trailer out...you will most likely be impressed.
I see you are located in Angola, where are you shopping if you don't mind me asking?

Just one boat...after another, after another
Re: Mid American Trailer
When I bought a project boat from Ty the Bacon Guy, I had Mid America build a custom trailer for it. Lots of bells and whistles-like led lighting and galvanized rims. Not a problem since, apart from a tongue jack issue. They sent me a new one immediately, no questions asked.
The paint is keeping nicely.
I modified the loading guides last year.
It is very well built and looks to last.

looking at them in Elkhart IN area
web site is trailersforpontoons.com
I live in fort wayne and have a small place on crooked lake in Angola
I understand about the weights but seems very underrated, My boat should be about 2500 lbs empty.
I will probably go up there and pick one up when it warms up a little next month.
I may also stop by at pontoon stuff.com showroom and pick up a new power arm binimi top, saw one at the boat show
looks perfect as i have to go under a low bridge to get to the lake, the standard binimi top is a pain to raise and lower.

I'm near you and bought my tandem Mid-America tri-toon trailer from them, picked it up in Elkhart. The trailer is terrific and they've also upgraded it for me over the past couple years at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend them. Talk to Rob and he'll take great care of you.

Re: Mid American Trailer
I saw the title of this thread and I opened with slight trepidation. Reason being I ordered a trailer from them and am picking up this Friday. Very happy to see my research reflects common sentiment.
The dealership I am buying my pontoon from wanted $4500 just for the trailer. That seems like an exorbitant amount of money. The trailer is a Road Master and it’s well built. First thing I did was call Road Master to see what they’d sell it for to me directly. $4500.
Then I found a guy about 150 miles away building custom trailers. He was about $3800 and the quality looked good but not great. Name is Copy Cat trailers:
http://copycatttrailers.com/home
After that a dealer in Houston. He’s selling Mid America Trailers. Very nice trailer, wanted $4200. His site:
http://boattrailers2go.com/index.html
Then I called the place up in Elkhart. They came back with $3700. It’s a far nicer trailer than anyone else I could find at any price. Problem is I have to drive 1000 mi EA WAY to get it. Here is their website:
http://www.trailersforpontoons.com/index.htm
Finally I found Mid America manufacturing plant in Lebanon Mo. This is the actual plant were all the Mid America trailers are built. They were very easy to work with and sold me a crazy nice trailer for $3600. Here is their website:
http://midamericatrailer.com/
Here is what they are building me for $3600:
PT26T/13DISC-DBJ-LED-TL (2” COUPLER)
26' Flote-On Pontoon Trailer
Tandem axle, Four 13" Tires,
4500 lbs Carrying Capacity
20' Bunks, 31' Overall Length,
Dual Wheel Tongue Jack
Tandem Axle Surge Style Disc Brakes
4" frame, 31' LOA, 84" wide frame
Tandem Axle 10" SurgE style Disc Brakes
-Tri Log Kit Deluxe
Deluxe Float-ON Tri Tube Bunk Kit
with Deluxe Stand, and upgrade to
Radial Tires. (With Radial Tires
Carrying Capacity of Trailer is 5500 lbs)
-BW-PT-26
Plastic bunk covering for 21' bunk trailers. PT-26 sold in lieu of
carpeting, includes wrap for winch stand.
-Load Guide
loading guides - Black for float on trailers
-Spare matching wheel & tire mounted to trailer
This is far and away the nicest trailer I could find anywhere in the country for anywhere near the price. I sent them a check for 50% down and they had it built and ready to go a week later. I’ll report back this weekend on the quality of the trailer and snap a few pics.

I got a Mid-American Trailer, from the factory in Lebanon, MO. Insanely good quality trailer. Worth even $2000 more in my opinion. I highly recommend.

Nice to hear good comments about this brand. My new boat comes with one of these, but not with any upgrades. I paid $2,295 for a basic from the marine dealer.

Re: Mid American Trailer
I called them to get some basic information because I needed some help resolving an issue with my boat dealer. The CS rep said he or the dealer would get back to me. The rep never answered my questions which makes me angry because I really wanted learn more about trailering my boat correctly.
Considering the customer service and a one year warranty, I am not impressed.

Re: Mid American Trailer
picked up my trailer last saturday.
they came in on sat by appointment to meet me
very good trailer, looked better than i expected.
they took time to go over everything wlth me
sorry you had problems with your contact with them ladyGT i know this is their busy time of year but that is no excuse
if you are dealing with the Elkhart IN office call and ask for Paul or Rob
they were very good with me. it sounds like, based on your other posts that your selling dealer really dropped the ball on your boat.
good luck but it sounds like they are trying to make it right

Re: Mid American Trailer
When I called to speak to a customer service rep, I was told I needed to speak to Michael. He listened to my problems, but didn't answer the questions I needed answers to. I really wanted to know how a boat was supposed to sit on the trailer because I had 17" of bunk behind the toon. I wanted an objective opinion which would help me to resolve my dissatisfaction with my dealer. Instead he just said either he or my boat dealer would get back to me. I waited an hour and finally took matters into my own hands because it was a Friday afternoon and did not know when people were going to leave for the day. As a result, I am getting a new trailer. The thing is, you don't sell a flawed trailer to a customer who just bought a brand new boat from you, especially when it's over $25,000. Everything should look new and as perfect as possible.crookedlaker wrote:picked up my trailer last saturday.

Re: Mid American Trailer
it's up the selling dealer to pick out and set up the correct trailer for your boat.
most dealers buy trailers by the truckload and set them up for each customers boat.
that being said it is also important to return calls promptly. Rust on a new trailer is unacceptable.
hope they do better with the second trailer.
