Gas tank under seat?

I purchased a small used pontoon a couple of months ago and have decided to install a new 6 gallon gas tank and a new fuel line. Originally the gas tank was located in open air on the back of the boat but the last owner decided to move it to an enclosed storage area under a passenger seat. What I'm wondering is if this location is acceptable or if there are problems with having the tank in this small, enclosed, space.

Also, when installing the new fuel line I understand there is one for exterior tanks and an upgraded version for enclosed tanks--not sure if I would need the upgraded fuel line if the tank stays under the seat.

Thanks....

Unless there's adequate ventilation, I personally wouldn't have a fuel tank in an enclosed space.

And I'm a firm believer in "Fudge Factor", so when it comes to fuel lines, I'd use the "Upgraded" line even if it's not required.

Yep, I think under the seat is not a great location. In looking for new gas tanks everyone I saw stated that it was for an "above deck" location so I think I will place it back to its original spot.

Your above deck, move it or put in vents
