Finally got the boat out on the lake...good news...she floats!

We bought a Lowe SF214. We put it out on Clinton Lake in Lawrence KS on Saturday. Going through the 10 hour break-in period. As much as I wanted a bigger motor, we settled on the 60HP ELPT Mercury. The cost for a 90/115 was just too much for us at this point.

Question for you motor guys....What is the "standard" or ideal RPM that we should be looking for. I haven't obviously opened it up WOT yet due to the initial break in period, but I've seen several folks on here saying they like running at 3,000 RPM, but what about when tubing etc? I know it depends on prop, trim, boat etc, but on average what should I be looking at?

Personal preference Bill. I run mine at 4k sometimes for cruising and wot at 5200 for tubing. OK. mostly at WOT since I only get 20 mph with the load I always carry .

Ok, thanks for the info....I'm looking forward to getting it opened up eventually, I don't expect to hit a great amount of speed being a 60, but it will do for now, and agree booze can weigh you down.

First of all, welcome.
We're practically neighbors, unless you traveled a distance to go to Clinton Lake (doubtful).

Second of all, I'm surprised you were able to get on the lake. We tried Lake Perry on Friday night, and ALL of the boat ramps were at least 8 feet UNDER water. No way we're getting on that lake within the next week or two.

I know Melvern is up 6 feet as well.
