Affordable handheld GPS recommendations

I'm looking for anyone's feedback regarding a handheld GPS for marking fishing spots. I sold off my old Hummingbird fish finder with integrated GPS with my old boat this winter. I need to start over marking all of the hot spots on the lake again. I have been using the GPS Fish app from Trimble on my Android phone but find it cumbersome. Additionally, I can't use it in the rain and if something should happen to the phone I will have lost everything again.

I'm looking to spend less than $200...any good recommendations?

My tired old eyes cant do anything with handheld gps . but with the sale on right now with 300.00 you can have the best IMHO with free shipping as well.

That's exactly why I'm recording my Humminbird fishfinder data onto an SDRAM chip - you can then load it up onto your new unit!

I've used it for a few years now and like it. When I'm in unfamiliar waters I can lay down "bread crumbs" and easily find my way back safely, even in the dark. It shows your GPS speed and has pretty darn accurate charts that I'm always comparing to my Garmin fish thing for accuracy. You can use it on phones, tablets and I think there IOS versions too, so an iPad would make a decent screen.

You can get a dry bag for your phone or device and still use it in the rain.

I have been using the Navionics boating app (paid version) on my phone for years. I really like it, especially for trolling the river channel on the flowage I fish. I also purchased the new SonarPhone (Vexillar) T200 wifi fish finder which uses your phone or tablet as the display instead of a permanently mounted device like the Hummingbird.

I have each app running on Android smartphones. All of this works great, until it starts to rain. I love the fact that all of these items are apps and are constantly upgraded.

The Navionics boating app and SonarPhone now work on one device with a split screen...which is really slick. My best bet is probably to just order a smaller Android tablet with a waterproof case and eliminate all of the smartphones I have set up.

I bought a Garmin 60CSx when it came out a few years back,,,,, it has been great. It is old news now so I bet you could find them for under 200 used here,,,
