Anyone have the humminbiprd helix 5di GPS fish Finder. Thinking of purchasing one. Have had humminbird in the past and like it very much. I have an Lawrence elit 5 and don't like it. Humminbird seems a lot easier to use.

I played around with them in the store quite a bit until I found a great deal on a clearance priced 798ci si hd. They seem like a nice little unit and anyone who has one thinks they are great for the price/performance ratio.

I have the Helix5di gps. It is a new unit to me, and I am still learning it's capabilities, but I like it so far.

I have Lowrance units also on my bass boat, and I have never liked them. The new Hummingbirds (last several yrs), seem much more user friendly.

I just installed mine, haven't had it in the water yet. Looks like all the options on the menus will take some learning..

I bought 2 of these and love them. Gander Mountain had them for about 1/2 the original price

I just bought the Helix 5 SI/GPS combo. Took it out for the first time and it worked great. Spent a day on lake meed and the DI was good to 1080 feet (which is the deepest part of the lake). The next day I used it on the river and had very sharp and clear images. Still trying to fine toon it. Picked up a lot of fish though and the GPS was spot on with my handheld. Just ordered the Hotmaps chip and going out again this weekend. I'll try and post some clips or a short video.

I have the helix 5 GPS on the console of my ranger and the helix 5 DI/GPS on the bow. I am impressed with both of them. Very good units at a nice price

After a few hours out with mine on Saturday, I have the same problem as others. When moving more than 9mph, depth does not give a real time reading. It continuously jumps from 50ft to 250ft in a matter of seconds. GPS works great though, really helped navigate me back to the boat ramp after the sun went down. I haven't used it for fishing yet, but I did see fish below me while we were not moving. Overall, I'm glad I purchased this unit.

I'm struggling to decide where to mount the transducer of my new Helix 5 SI GPS. Perhaps I'm overthinking the side-imaging. Where does one mount the transducer so that it's below the 'toons and where the outboard doesn't interfere with side-view? My motor drive extends 14" past the ends of the 'toons making me question where best to install it. Where did you guys mount yours?
