I'm am considering buying this model Suntracker. I noticed on another topic, two men own this same model: Tlowry and mzodarg. So, I am asking both this gentlemen if they are happy with their boats? Also, mzodarg has a 90 hp Merc Thrust motor on his. Are you happy with the performance with this motor? Thinking of 115 Merc. Command thrust - think it is work the difference in money? Thanks to these guys and anyone else who has an opinion of this Tracker - 22' DLX fISHN BARGE.

When I bought mine, I wanted the 115 Also. We both know that dealerships are in this for the money, It was suggested by the owner to put the $1000 On something else.
I have a friend that has the same boat But the Party Barge, he has the 115. Top speed on his is 27 MPH, I've hit 30 MPH in mine.
The command thrust 90 IMHO is enough motor for my personal taste.

I bought a 2015 Sun Tracker 20DLX Party Barge earlier this year and went with the 90ELPT command thrust eng. Currently haven't had any problems and the performance is perfectly acceptable to me. With 2 people and a full tank of gas the best I have seen GPS is 30 mph. Could be wrong but from what I understand the main difference between the 90 and 115 is essentially the computer module. Any thoughts ?

I think most people will tell you to put the largest motor the boat will hold, If possible. I feel that's a big boat even for a 115. of course it also depends on what you expect out of it and how you plan to use it. now, thinking about it. 115 is probably largest for a 2 toon?

I like our setup but kinda wish I went with the 115. before I put the trolling motor and two group 27 batteries, I could get 29mph with me and the mrs on board. The trolling setup knocked it down 27mph. With full load, I get 22 which still ain't bad.
Boat came rigged with too big of prop and had bad blow out. I wasn't able to get the RPM and speed up and would cavitate in turns or if you touched the trim. I used the prop slip calculator in the link in the sticky section and found the right prop, told tracker and they sent me the correct prop. To fix the blow out, I removed the little splash 'V' on the bottom of the motor pod and now get good bite up to 1/4 trim and boat rides with 1/3 toon out of the water which makes a quiet smooth ride.
As for the 90 command thrust, me likey very much. Motor is smooth, quiet and the bigger lower unit maneuvers the boat with authority in the marina.

Tlowry,
Care to share what prop your currently running, My current 15x17p prop won't go past 5000 rpm's. I also contacted tracker and of course they tell me its the right prop.

I replied in the other thread but here it is again. 14x13.
According to the prop slip calculator, your Theoretical Speed would be 39mph at 5000. What is your actual speed?

Tom,
My current speed is 26 MPh @4900 rpms. All that with a mercury 15x17P prop (that's what it came with)

Mike,
Attached is what the slippage calculator came up with. Your stats shows 28% slippage and 4600 RPM WOT is way low. Slippage should be around 12% and WOT at 5500 -6000 RPM
Play around with this and see what you come up with.

I find it interesting that they went from 2.07 to 2.38 gears from 2014 to 2015.

I see, I must be missing something. Can't duplicate your results.
I'll keep trying.
