Hey All,
I'm a new member and was asked to post a few pic's of my Tritoon. It is a 2008 Sunset Bay Cruz 250 with a Mercury Optimax 150 HP and as you can see double bimini's too. Here they are the pic's..... I am starting to plan for underskin for my Tritoon and am looking for advice. I am considering .063 aluminum sheets as my cross members are 24" on center. Has anyone used .040 for underskinning with 24" centers? Thanks.

Welcome to the Club !!!!

I would think you would be perfectly fine with .040" for under skinning as it's keeping the splash water off and not really much for structural rigidity. It would also be a lot easier to work with. A 5052 H32 alloy is considered "half hard" and you can form it. Don't get 6061-T6 as that is not going to bend well.

Enjoy :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

I would think .040 would be plenty, I have some .063 under mine and its overkill on 24" centers but I got it cheap so I used that along with an old truck bed liner.

Nice boat! And welcome to the forum! You're at that best place to be! But the newest members have to start the coffee in the morning! No de-caf for me!

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I think .040 might just do the job as the width is only 27" between the logs in my tritoon. I am thinking of bending a 6" angle on either side for rigidity and using self tapping SS screws also. Any other thoughts?

Self tappers work good, especially if you need to remove the panels, in the future to run wiring or something. One quick hint is to run a conduit with dead wires through it before you skin it, if you plan on adding any electronics in the future. It helps. I had to remove the underskinning on my old boat twice, once to add my Jackplate, and then again to add an amp. They should do this from the factory on new boats. Have them pre-wired. It has been mentioned to a few reps in the past.
