when walking thru the parking area at the boat launch today , I noticed a 'toon trailer with what looked like aluminum bunks .... appeared to be same size/shape as my wooden bunks ...... is this something new ? is it possible they were aluminum or maybe some sort of plastic ? boat launch was busy , so , didn't have much time to look it over

When you say bunks, you mean the part the pontoons actually rest on, right? Mine are aluminum with a rubber cover.

yes , the part the toons sit on ..... mine are wood covered with carpet .... the ones I saw yesterday looked like aluminum , maybe wood covered with aluminum .... not really sure , they looked like aluminum , but , might not of been

I think I'd prefer plain old carpeted southern yellow pine for my runners. They last for many years without any problem, and are cheap to replace.

Mine has the treated lumber with gray plastic covers on them.

I just installed new bunks (treated wood) with plastic bunk wrap over it. They are grey in color. I got mine from Tennessee Trailers but they are also available as 'Caliber Bunk Wrap' from various boat supply vendors. I will advise on launch / load experience next week when I have a chance to take it out on the lake.

I ordered my trailer with the blueish gray plastic bunk covers. My trailer can sit for half a season or longer in my shady yard and things tend to grow on carpet.
