Pontoon Boat & Deck Boat Forum

I'm thinking of going the project route for a boat, looking in the 24-26' range. I know that tritoons and strakes have improved boat performance, but beyond that, how has the tube shape changed over the past 30 years? If I'm in for new flooring, furniture, and power, is there any advantage going newer?

The older boats had smaller diameter toons thus less floatation. I would try to find one with larger diameter toons just to be able to keep the floor above water.

Good point. I take it 24" would be minimum now? Seems like round is the most common shape. I was looking at an 01 Tracker Regency with the 90 hp Merc. How did you like that combo and what kind of speed did you see?

If the '01 has aluminum Duradeck, buy it. They are hard to come by.
