Trailer hitch

I got a new truck with a all new hitch, do you grease up the Ball before a long trip??

Yep, hooking and unhooking is much easier also.

You know I always have especially on black steel balls. However, with a chromed ball I'm not sure you gain anything but greasy balls. :biggrin2 :donno

I don't know if makes any difference or not, but I usually give it a shot of wd-40 that I keep in the truck... figured it can't hurt anything

Depends.

Is the trailer grounded through the hitch or does it have a ground wire through the plug?

In my experience, if it's grounded through the hitch, greasing the ball can impede current and cause faulty lights.

I use plain old Vaseline on my balls. Keeps them lubed and free of rust and its much easier to ultimately wash out of my pants as needed also. I also on occasion pull the receiver out of the hitch and lube it with some Vaseline also, if ignored they can rust into place and one can have a real good time removing if one wanted to do so.
