Ordering custom boat: Question

#1 Post by C_M_25 » Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:18 pm

I've been looking at the websites of several major pontoon boat manufacturers and making note of the different models. We'll probably look at something different than what we have now since we have a good idea of what we really want. My question is how much can you customize a floor plan? For instance, can you take a floor plan that you like and take out the bow lounges and have them put in fishing seats instead? The reason I ask is because there are models with rear racing lounges that my wife likes, but I would like fishing seats up front, and there are no options to add these via the internet. Thanks

When I was looking, some would, most would not. Most dealers didn't know the answer, and I suspect didn't bother asking. At the boat shows many manufacturers told me they would do whatever I wanted for a price. Putting fishing seats instead of couches would save them money, and take 2 seconds to install. In this competitive era you would think they would oblige.

My dealer told me the manufacturer would build whatever I wanted. Custom length, seats, floor plan.....etc...

I probably wouldn't have liked the cost though.
