The new boat is finally here (well actually it was on the lot Tuesday). I posted over in the Manufacturer reviews and posted a couple of pictures before rigging. As I said there I don't know if I'd recommend that because there we spots on seats, the floor, crap everywhere in the boat, etc. The dealer mentioned a few times they still had to mount some stuff and clean it up good before delivery and I don't think they normally want the customer to see the boat in this shape but they knew I've been waiting (read harassing them) for 14 1/2 weeks for a boat that was initially quoted as 6-8 weeks and then changed to 6-10 weeks when we were 3 weeks into the process. Below are a few of the specs and I'll get pictures posted hopefully tomorrow after the maiden voyage.

On a side note, I had some problems dealing with the other location of this dealer but the Columbia, SC team was great and kept me in the loop with nearly daily updates once they knew the boat was coming to them. The other location is where our sales guy from the show was and they never passed our file off to the local branch until I called them inquiring on the status. From that point forward it was smooth sailing and I would recommend them to anyone. At first glance I'd also recommend Cypress Cay for a buyer that wants options of a higher end boat but on a more affordable platform. You can take a mid tier boat like we did and put all the trimmings on it to have a really nice boat at a reasonable price.

The boat:
Cypress Cay Seabreeze 230
Performance Plus Package (three full toons, underskin, middle toon set an inch below the outside so the boat can bank)
Center Walk through layout with double low back helm chairs
Pillow top seating with quilted inserts
Ski tow bar
4 speaker Jensen Gauge size stereo package (we moved the two speakers on the helm to under the back seats to even things out)
Pop up cleats
All LED lights including docking lights
Quick release fender mount system on both sides of the boat (only comes with two bumpers and the male side of the clips so we ordered the other two male pieces Tuesday for around $36 - 2 female side connections on both sides already)
Added the changing room under the lean back on the front port seat.
LED under seat rope lighting
Portable cup holder and pedestal table
Double bimini with full boat enclosure and mooring cover - we boat all year so this was a must have
Mercury 150 4 stroke with Stainless Steel prop and SeaStar steering

We'll get the boat out tomorrow and run it through it's paces, but from what I've seen and read it's supposed to bank more like a v hull, but not quite as extreme as their top tier performance package which isn't available on this boat (or the PTX, etc). I've seen reports ranging from 38-44 mph top end but we probably won't see that while the motor is in the break in period or since the enclosure will likely be on the boat all weekend, but next week is supposed to be sunny and I'll be well past the 2 hour break in period.

Congratulations on you getting your new boat. The Cypress Cay is a very nice boat by any standards and certainly not an entry level boat. With the 150 hp Merc FourStroke, you'll probably be right at 40 mph or slightly under. Hopefully your dealer's sold enough of this engine/hull package to know exactly what pitch prop will perform best for your needs.

You're very fortunate to have Lake Murray so close to a big city. It's a great place.

The prop actually came with the boat from the factory. I assume since they are under the same company umbrella (brunswick) they do that automatically. I noticed all the tests of this boat I found use the same prop, so hopefully it's that one. Guess we will find out today. Yes, we are very lucky to be able to live on the lake but be so close to town. We live on the south east shores and are only about 8 minutes away from a fairly large town so it truly is the best of both worlds.

You ever go to Rusty Anchor or Liberty's? We usually hit one or both most weekends. I have a Bennington with a full WVU wrap. I'm easy to spot. Come over for a cold beer if you see me.

Yeah, I've actually seen your boat a few times when we were on our old boat, and I think our friend's houseboat, It's the one with Georgia stuff all over it. Joe Agnew had it for a little while and it was called Motts Too. Before the new baby we used to pretty much always be on the boat with them in the winter.

We were actually at Rusty Anchor Saturday from around 4-7:30 or so and we will be at Liberty with a bunch of my wife's family on Friday night. We aren't hard to miss because we are one of the only pontoons I've seen riding around this time of year with a full enclosure still on it. Our's has the windows that zip down so you can open nearly every panel and it's like sitting on the boat without the enclosure but when you put them back up it keeps the wind off of the wife and baby.

I've been really busy breaking the boat in, getting it setup in the slip, getting all my gear moved over, taking care of a 2 month old, and getting ready for a weekend where my wife's whole family will be in town and we get to entertain them. I'll be on the boat tomorrow moving some stuff around and I'll try to get some pictures.

Here's a teaser until I get more pictures tomorrow. We were out last Friday, Saturday and Monday (thanks for Sunday TS Bonnie). We had a crew so the boat stayed a bit errrrrrrrrrr "disorganized" all weekend long with groups of people on and off. I'll get pictures tomorrow after I get done straightening up and cleaning her up.

The good news in a way is the rub rails already did their job. We had winds in the 40's out of the north which blew straight into our cove which is normally protected. We were at the zoo Sunday with my wife's family from out west since we couldn't be on the water and came home to find the winds had thrown the boat higher than the dock and tossed the fenders on the dock. It actually chewed all the way through the rubber on the dock down to the wood in a couple of hours. I straightened everything out and there are just a few marred edges I need to file down and you won't be able to tell. On our old bow rider the fenders were below the rub rail where they angled in so they couldn't ride up like on a pontoon. I have a storm kit now which consists of some extra lines and a string of old mix and match fenders I can pull from cleat to cleat horizontally to keep me off the dock next time. The G5's didn't do me any good this day but hopefully I learned a lesson. At least I got the first blemish out of the way!

Here are a few more pictures of it. The enclosure is still on the boat but even with the glass rolled down in all but the front and rear quarter panels it still is a little hot sitting still. Riding around is great because it keeps the wind to a point the wife and 2 month old are happy. I think we are going to try and leave just the front panel on this weekend so we can remove it when we get to where we are going. A few other friends do this on their half enclosures and it's great Friday night when going to dinner and also the cool evenings we have. Overall we are happy with the boat and seeing some good speeds with the top on. By next Sunday I'll know what she actually does top end when I take the top all the way off and close the bimini's up. The dealer is fixing a few things we have issues with soon hopefully but they had to order replacement seats/parts from Cypress Cay so we are going to wait to take it to them until all parts they need are in and hopefully they can turn the boat in a few days so we don't miss a weekend. Sorry about the wet floor...I've found I have to do a little mop up of the vinyl because it gets marked up pretty easy from dirty wet feet.

So apparently the links to Google Photos changes every couple of days and unless you are me you can't see them. Below is a link to the photo gallery.
