Changing oil

Was wondering if anyone has ever changed the oil in their motor with it in the slip or is it a must to pull it out to be changed. I don't have a trailer and the guy who services my old motor gets $125 to pull it out of the water. Thanks

You could always get the grandkid's little plastic swimming pool and float it under the lower unit==and let'er drain. It made a mess on my driveway yesterday with a regular drain pan.

I first drain my lower unit gear oil into a clean, dry pan as I'm looking for any metal shavings or water intrusion indicating any seal problems. Then I drain my motor oil into the same pan..

I have a manual oil pump that can be threaded in the dipstick tube down to the crankcase. Most dealers suck the oil out rather than drain the oil with gravity.

My T60 has a hose going around the drain plug. I simply tip the motor all the way up and remove the drain plug. Then I clamp a larger hose over it and lower it all the way as it drains into an oil 5 gallon jug. Easy Peasy :D
