Where you mounting your battery switch? Plastic....

I am going to add a second battery - I have a Pergo switch but I am questioning where to mount this. The seat bases are plastic so I don't know if I can screw it into there. The walls are thin aluminum so that won't work.

I have having a hard enough time trying to find a spot for the battery in the same underseat location, much less trying to mount the Pergo switch.

I am pretty handy but maybe I should have just let the dealer deal with this one?

Pictures, ideas...would be helpful.

Why can't you mount it to the plastic seat bases? The Roto-Molded plastic seat bases are nearest to 1/4" thick and are quite robust and can easily support screws, bolts and/or rivets. For a heavy switch such as what your installing I'd drill through holes and use screws/bolts with a nut and for extra support a large OD fender-washer. Really the same applies to mounting it to the thin alum walls except that you would want a much larger backing plate such as 1/8" Alum or even plastic etc to support the switch. I used some 3/8" thick blue colored Plexiglas in my boat in a similar fashion and it is hard to even notice that it is even there....

I took a scrap piece of 1/8" aluminum that was wider than the switch and bent it into an L-shaped stand. I mounted it on the rear deck between the two batteries and attached the battery switch to it. It looks neat and is very sturdy. Sorry, no pictures as my boat is 2 hours away.

I mounted ours in the changing room with the extra battery at the far port side of the enclosure. The switch is mounted to a large piece of 1/4" UHMW I had laying around and the the complete assembly is screwed to the wall above the original battery. It worked well for us. Not sure what your boat layout is so cannot suggest anything. Possibly under a seat near the floor but that could end up being a wet location. Closest to the batteries is best - less wire to eat voltage drop. Besides, the wire is big $$$!
