It's just an example how not every boat company makes all their own components. When parts are outsourced, they're not always available when needed.
And as far as Marinemax goes, some locations are good and some locations are less than good. The company as a whole has a lot of dissatisfied customers on marine websites.

Do you have the boat?
If no, then tell them to give your deposit back and start shopping for something that is in-stock.
If you have the boat, then go to Marine Max and start picking some accessories out (say $500 worth) and when they go to ring it up, tell them you want them for free or they can come get your boat and give you your money back.

And I thought my 4 week wait for my custom built bimins were a long time.
If it helps, the bimini covers were built wrong, so that took an additional 2 weeks to get corrected....

There must be something up in the Harris canvas shop. I took the enclosure off of my boat today and put the mooring cover on for the first time tonight. They completely missed the front cutouts for the front bimini. The other front bimini cutouts were there as were the three for the back bimini. Dealer claimed to have test fitted all canvas before delivery but it's pretty clear they didn't at this point. It was a little disappointing to say the least. We have had the boat a little over two weeks but have been running the full enclosure (which they missed some of the straps to hold the clear vinyl when rolled down). Hopefully the local canvas shop can fix it and I won't have to ship either back to the factory.

I believe Harris' canvas department to be staffed with idiots who can't read a custom order correctly if their life depended upon it. My (2014) mooring cover was a "cluster" from day one, and it took 6 months to finally get it correct.
The only good thing was I ended up with a second set of poles and extra bow skirt. After receiving a correct fitting cover, it felt like a waste, but the first cover went into the trash.
As for MarineMax, don't get me started. My salesman was worthless. They weren't the Harris dealer; I was trying to buy a Crest from them. I loved telling the guy I bought a Harris from his competition just down the road.
