I have a 22' Princecraft with a 2015 115hp Mercury 4 stroke engine. My son wants to put on a new Mercury Black Max extra cup pontoon-work prop 14 x 11". It's 3 bladed and aluminum. What say you? I'm not worried about speed.
Thanks in advance for any advice you offer.

I have same motor, 18' tri-toon with 13.25 x 17 Black Max, 5,600 RPM's WOT. With 2 on board will hit 40mph, and blow out during aggressive tubing. I assume you have command thrust since it's made for pontoons, you'll be pounding the rev limiter with that prop. But I don't know what difference the extra cup will produce.

Well do you know if your motor is a Command Thrust or not as they make both in the 115 motor?

If it is a CT then you would be better off with a prop with a bigger diameter.

And I'll have to say that if not a CT then that prop might be fairly suitable.

My reason for saying this is I have the 75 HP little brother to your motor on my 18 foot boat and it performed fairly well with a 14x11 as well as a 14x13 and liked the 14x12 the best.

But I've since gone and had the HP upped to 115 by flashing the ECM to which the guy who flashed it strongly commented that to realize the HP that I need to drop the pitch a little so I will try a 13.8" x 11P Spitfire that I've got at home very soon...
