swappin motors.. again, this time to Honda

We are procuring a used 2004 Honda 75hp 4-stroke outboard with honda controls.
This will go on our 1994 20' Playbuoy Challenger (75hp is its max rated hp capacity).
Currently it has a 1985 (or maybe 86) 75hp 2-stroke mariner that we swapped out a 40hp for - which ran fine and we plan on selling.
The motor had been on a rental boat til 2010 - then with its current owner (on a pontoon). Owner said the rental place (Bills Marina in DCL, MD) regularly serviced it when it was a rental and he had it serviced twice a year with them also. Current owner doesn't live on the lake, but visits, so it isn't used all the time.
Anything we should be looking out for? We realize it is carbureted.

Overall HONDA makes very good motors at 12 years old unless it can be proven otherwise I'd have the timing belt changed ASAP...

Good engines, may be a bit "cold blooded" until it warms up. Also the carbed Hondas are very susceptible to getting the pilot jets clogged if it sits for months (winter) on end with untreated gas in the float bowls. (Goes for any carbed 4 stroke)

Is a carburated 4-stroke going to have better fuel economy than a 2 stroke?

Good question.. I assumed it would? The other motor is from 1985ish...

Yes, hands down. Just like cars, the Early EFI systems didn't offer better fuel economy than carbs but they did offer cleaner emissions, easier starting, and didn't need "tune ups". Most 4 stroke outboards run a very basic open loop EFI system with very few sensors, much like the 80's cars. Only recently have they started adding O2 sensors and "modern" EFI systems to really squeeze the fuel economy, Such as the Lean burn system on Honda and Suzuki.
