Driving back from lake on a different route I saw an old houseboat bottom. So had to turn around and go back to check it out. It is at a junk yard. Guy is just sitting on it till metal prices go back up. It is a pontoon style houseboat that has been stripped down to the floor. It measured 12x41 has transoms on back of both tubes. It is all aluminum all the way down to the floor. The floor is flat alum but is covered with carpet and vinyl. At this point not sure what would do with it. But it is one heck of a place to start. Guy wants 3000. Am I crazy or what ? Is it even worth the 3k if I change my mind later and need to sale ?

Offer him $1,500 and settle at $2K if you can really use it.

That is my issue. I really have to set plan for it right now. Other than a huge floating dance floor. I researched the hull # it is 1997 tracker built for myacht. At current metal prices it would bring around 1500 at a recycle center. My biggest issue now is moving it. It is about a 30 mile tow to the lake. I would just put in water and tie to dock for now. It is just big enough not to fit a center lift pontoon trailer. And houseboat movers want 1200-1400 to move it. Just having a hard time not buying it. But is probably best to let it go.

i'd say, if you're going to rebuild it into either expanding your dock or an actual boat, get it for the lowest price, and pay to move it...

sometimes deals aren't right... if it doesn't fit financially, ya gotta let it go...
