Guys,
I am planning on switching my 2012 Merc 4-stroke 115hp to a 2017 Merc 4-stroke 150.
Anyone have any knowledge on this?
I have never even pulled a outboard let alone tried to swap.
All the connections have me worried.
Can you help me out?
Thanks
Dan

Can't help, but every time I read your profile I say that guy needs more power, That's a nice, high end boat!

I think that year might just be plug and play as far as harness and all go. Shift and throttle should be cable and straight forward. Pretty easy swap by just disconnecting everything at the motor after you disconnect the battery. You might have to change the tachometer setting.

I let the dealer install it, but the Mercury 150 has been great on my boat.

My Bennington came with instructions to the dealer on which prop to use.
Your dealer should have enough experience installing the 150 hp motors where he should know which prop to use. The question is to use a regular Enertia prop or the Enertia ECO prop????
My next door neighbor with a Harris tritoon and 150 Verado uses a 14 pitch. Your 150 FourStroke's a completely different engine, however.

The Harris's used a 15.4x14 on the long shaft boats and now they use a 15x15 on the XL. Both of these are Enertia props. I think either would be a good starting point. The first will give you a little more control at the dock and a little more hole shot. Basically the pitch and diameter cancel out and the RPM's will be similar. I couldn't find a Mercury bulletin on this boat so I'd call South Bay or the Dealer and see what they normally run on the newer model of this boat.

She's all done and finally got to lake test it today.
My best top speed with my Merc 115 4 stroke was 29 mph per GPS.
Today with my new Merc 150 4 stroke she did 40 mph per GPS.
Everything except the trim gauge works, but I do now have trim reading via my smart craft gauge which i didn't have with the 115.

Congratulations. You've made the right prop decision and should be at your max performance on the first try. The FourStroke appears to be one fine motor.

Which prop did you end up with? I run the Enertia 15x15 on my Lowe SS210 and it runs about 40mph as well. I'm interested in getting the Smartcraft Monitor now myself.

I am also running the Enertia 15x15 but the RPM's are a bit low, 5350 rpm.
i could run a 14 but it won't help MPH, just raise RPM.
