Anybody have an opinion on Zep Clear Shell Mildew Inhibitor?

#1 Post by Jim in Alabama » Mon May 01, 2017 8:09 pm

Our new boat will stay on the water in our wet slip spring through late fall. The cover will stay on much of the time and I'll try to remember to keep a couple of gates open during good weather to allow some air flow ..... but I'm concerned about mildewed seats and floor. I know some people put in fans but what a PITA! Does the Zep Clear Shell work?

Before we built our covered lift, I had a South Bay and left it in the water with the cover on. I really never had a mildew issue but I did not have carpet. I just kept the seats clean and loaded up with 303 protectant. My South Bay cover breathed really well. Make sue you prop all your cushions open before you put the cover on.

Back to your Zep question. Personally I would not use as I would be afraid of what it will do to your seats. Some of the mildew specific stuff for marine (i.e. StarBrite) would be what I would use.

Thanks Bob. I do use 303 on the seats and make sure everything's dry before I cover it, I'm probably overthinking it!
