neat idea, probably will cost more than most are willing to pay imo... Oh, and take off your hit counter on your website, it looks like a website from 1996!

So your being clipped and pasted into P&DB, I didn't know anybody reading it anymore, but Welcome.
So what price are we looking at, I can see where it would be great for people leaving theirs at a marina's for security too or it would be great for beaching it for the night and knowing all will be there the next day.

To expensive and makes an ugly nose on front of toon. Would be in the way of front stops unless it can take the hits from powerloading.
For the price you can build a cover to keep boat under.

Re: Retractabl Pontoon Covers, motorized and wireless
1) Snap on cover takes me exactly 3 minutes to install/remove. Too high price to pay to have things break, which will then cost me more money in the long term vs buying new mooring covers as they eventually wear out.
2) Halfway through the video, that thing whacks the hell out of the poor outboard. Better go back to the drawing board on that part
I'd be seriously pissed if my (very expensive) engine cowl/hood got cracked by it.
3) To me, it overcomplicates a simple task, kind of Rube Goldberg - ish.
4) Better make the nose portion better looking. Reminds me of a tow truck wrecker bumper and will cause problems in rough seas. Pontoon fences get banged up, I can see that thing getting ripped off and ending up in a prop.
You wanted an honest opinion so there it is. Personally, I'd buy Tap Fins before I bought this thing.
Btw, mentioning PDB here is kind of like kissing Obama's ass. Won't get you very far, PDB is not a very credible magazine/website.

Sorry Retractable, didn't know they would throw rocks at you. Think he was just looking for some input, tips and maybe some constructive criticism. I am probably more skeptical than most, but I don't think ya'll gave him a fair shake, personally I am glad someone is trying to develop an easier way to cover and protect a toon.

Bullshit doc
I said the same thing when he posted last year or year before over there. I believe what I said is valid If he can't take a little criticism then so be it

Re: Retractabl Pontoon Covers, motorized and wireless
Well I'd rather give an honest opinion then sugar coating it for the guy. His product obviously has some engineering issues that need to need to be worked on. Cost is going to kill it. If he wants only favorable opinions, that's all they allow at PDB so he can go there. I lost count how many e-mails I got from Brady over Tap Fins and my criticism of Malcom's business sense (or lack thereof).
I am sure a few of you got "Malcom is an advertiser here, please lick his shoes from now on" PM from that albino douchebag.
At least here we can post our opinions without the bias/editing/deleting/banning.

I said it had it good points too, but still need some work to do but no reason to cut and run.
I thought it could be a good ideal with manual close instead of electric to break down on you and the back bow needs to be longer to miss engine cover.

Re: Retractabl Pontoon Covers, motorized and wireless
Not sure what he posted, it was gone when I got here. So I don't know what got everyone fired up. Agree it will be costly but then again 500 bucks for a sheet of canvas 24' long isn't cheap either but most of us need them to protect our investment. Still think, there is a market once he irons out any wrinkles in it, but it basically does appear to me it works and can be functional. May not be every ones cup of tea, but then again there are folks that pay 200 to 400 to have their toons cleaned. A couple of good trades in the market and you are there. Got the shit kicked out of me today. Not a good day to short the Nasdaq and the banks.

He copy pasted word for word from the other place. I am sure it is a viable product and I just gave my opinion of what I though about it.
I am sure there have been nothing but oooooooo's and aaaaaaaaa's over there.

thats too bad he deleted his post... I for one dont have a problem if someone wants to talk about pontoon products they invent here on the site, but be ready for some constructive critizism as the mods around here are not going to protect anyone!

Mike I can handle constructive critizism I've been at this for 3 years. I've heard just about everything that can be said about it. But that's not what some were doing here. Once you guys heard PDB it turned into a PDB which hunt. A fact I couldn't have possibly known about. Some were just being mean spirited, and I can do it too.mike wrote:thats too bad he deleted his post... Anyone can do that...
And for your information that wack you hear when the back of the cover comes down
is not the sound of it hitting the cowll. There's a latch that locks it into place when it comes down.
