Re: Cover support
Well damn if it doesn't look like a covered Wagon TWB!
I decided to put vertical poles as well to keep it from sagging. I drilled a hole in the T-box to keep poles from slipping.
The inside pics are before I got it all tightened up. We'll see how she does!

Re: Cover support
Nice job, Craig!
Just put the horses in the barn and you should be good through the off-season!
Just make sure Cookie turns off the chuckwagon stove or you could have a fire. That would attract injuns!

Re: Cover support
Looks good Craig... nice job. Only place I'd be a little concerned about is at the front end, just inside the front gate.. From the pics looks like a low spot where water / snow could pool.. but maybe it's just the vantage point of the picture.

Re: Cover support
What is this "snow" that you speak of?
Big and ugly but we love our 1999/2000 Crest II DL with a Yamaha F115
Re: Cover support
Yeah, we don't see much (if any) of that stuff down here.
Here you go, Marc, maybe this will help you:
snow
noun: snow; plural noun: snows
1. atmospheric water vapor frozen into ice crystals and falling in light white flakes or lying on the ground as a white layer.
"we were trudging through deep snow"
2. a mass of flickering white spots on a television or radar screen, caused by interference or a poor signal.
"all that they could pick up on their screens was snow"

Re: Cover support
Thanks everyone! I did tighten that spot up some. It's close enough now I can check on it in 30 minutes.... We'll see.

Re: Cover support
went to check on THE FLOATER after 40 -50 mph gusts and 1-2" of rain. Bow was perfect had some pooling in stern so pushed that out and tightened it all up back there. I may need to add another support there. All in all I think I nailed it!

Re: Cover support
You can buy those vents like come on fitted boat covers for about $10 and the telescoping support poles aren't much more. Could put one in front and rear. I think they probably work better than those mushroom head standalone poles because the vent installs/clamps into the cover and then the pole inserts into the vent.

Re: Cover support
Yeah, adding some vents might not be a bad idea. Here's some of the products Steiner was referring to.Steiner wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 11:45 amYou can buy those vents like come on fitted boat covers for about $10 and the telescoping support poles aren't much more. Re: Cover support
took another visit to check on cover. We had 3-4" of snow over New Years when we were at the beach then some rain. THE FLOATER had 2! gallons of water pooled and an inch of ice. After all these years of thinking about how to build it and then to have the support work makes me smile.
