Battery backwards fried harness. My God, what have I done?

Like it says guys, I've taken the battery out many times for storage and put it back without issue. This time I hooked it up wrong and fried a big gang of wires underneath the helm! Not a single fuse popped! I'll post a picture from my phone. My God.

Wow that's gonna take some work! Have you looked for a new harness you can just cut and splice instead of all homeruns to the ends.

That's a definition "OH SHIT!" moment.

Condolences for the fried electrical and electronics.

I'm thinking that I've destroyed the ignition harness? A yamaha part? I don't want to look again today just out of disappointment.

If you have insurance on it, check with them just to see if they'll cover any of it.

I don't. I have replaced two lower ends. It might be a good idea. Wife's been getting on me about it. She's got a point!

Seriously, I need some electrical advice. The melted part goes to the Yamaha key and landyard and it appears to be the only part affected. Does this go all the way back to the battery?

Can't tell, but is a lot of that just the same cable harness that's just looped a couple times and ziptied? If it is, Yamaha main harness is only about $100 and the dual fuse harness is about $40. The main runs from from the ignition switch back to the engine. You'd have to find out which one you need. They have them in different lengths and pin numbers.

This looks kinda like part of your mess:

I've replaced the 10 pin 20' harness, the one that connects to that and the keyset and harness to that. Everything works except the nav lights, anchor light and dash lights. Almost there.

Switch gets power on only half the switch. Meaning; it used to have a one way diode years ago that burned out. I set it to do the same on both positions (anchor light and navs). We used to wait until the switch was " ready" to give power to the lights.
