Critters s growing in my lake boat bottom !

#1 Post by playcat » Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:33 pm

Finally got a slip for our toon and after a month it seemed noticeably slower. A Quick Look showed all kinds of growth on the bottom.
What do yall do to keep this under control?
Anti fouling paint?
Scrub it monthly or more?
Nothing?

All of the above from pasts post! I know someone heated up a plastic putty knife to form the shape of the toons.... Sounds like it worked well.

If needed during the season, I take mine to the nearest unoccupied beach and go over the crud with a ScotchBright pad. Seems to work foe me.

The more often you scrub it, the easier it is. Have the same issue.

I pull mine once a year and keep it in my warehouse in the frigid winter months.

When we pull it, the Marina Dealer Hot Pressure Washes it.

There's Zebra Mussels in ElDorado here in Kansas, and that Hot Pressure Wash does a good job of peeling those buggers off the toons.

Thanks, that’s what I figured.
Enough crap grew that I lost 10 knots top speed
