unusual noise

#1 Post by Reiner » Wed Jul 09, 2025 1:40 pm

Hello, I own a 2015 Lowe SS210 RFL triton and experienced the most unusual noise while backing back in to the driveway. We were coming back from the Colorado/Lake Havasu to San Diego, We did not experienced any problems during the couple days we stayed. Out toon was docked in a rented slip. After backing up and unhitching the trailer we heard a load air hissing sound from the back of the center toon. It went on for about 20 minutes or so. Almost sounded like a running toilet flush.
There was no water at all under the trailer. Our drive took us from sea level desert to over 4000 feet Laguna Mountains back to San Diego in pretty warm weather. Not sure if the elevation change has something to do with it since we did the drive in the past. Hope someone can shed light on this.
Thanks Reiner

My guess would be pressure??? But I really have no idea. Hopefully it was hissing on top of the log rather than the bottom.
I am the guy at the boat ramp that gives you dirty looks when you are a complete idiot and too stupid to know it.

Will find out next time in the water. Getting my Mercury recall on the shift cable done on Thursday and will see what happens.

At sea level the external pressure on your toon would tend to push air into a leak in a toon. Then as you go up in elevation it would tend to leak back out. But I would expect it to go slowly as you go up and down in elevation. For it to go on for 20 minutes it would seem to me to have to be a small leak. And why wait to leak until you got home...??? Like a toilet flushing would suggest that water might be involved but you said no water leak. Like air bubbling through a bit of water. Sounds like you have some sorta leak and some funky circumstances. Curious what you find out if you find anything out?

My center toon has storage with an automatic bilge pump in it. Does yours? They can fail on.

I wish I hadn't said anything. Last time I was out, when I pulled my boat out my pump got stuck on.
