Dock lights

My wife and I have recently purchased a lake house with a nice boat dock. The dock is about 5 years old and has solar lights on all of the posts, but only one is still working. Has anyone had good luck with these lasting or should I look for something hard wired?

Most of my neighbors use solar dock lights, but regular battery replacement is required. The quality of the lights determines the lifespan. Since yours are already there, open one up, and I'll bet that you will find that a new battery will get it going again.

I have two solar lights out on the end of my dock (only about 30') as safety markers. Mine last about 12-14 days without bright sunshine because they are commercial units that fell off of a dredging barge in a storm, and floated onto my launching ramp. (I would have returned them, but I was irritated with the crew for starting their 400 HP diesel pumps at 6:15 am on our quiet lake)
