I already knew this was going to be a complete teardown so no surprise there. I did find something that took me by surprise though. It looks like the boat sat (gently) upon a log or a narrow sand bar. The starboard 'toon has a flat section on the bottom about 6 feet long, right in the middle. Because I could not pull the boat, there was no way to see the bottoms of the pontoons. The boat rode fine and handled great when I drove it. Now my question. Is there a way to make this better? It's cosmetic so if there is no way, that's fine. Has anyone put a small amount of air in a pontoon to make it round? I have experience with metal and know a bit about physics so I'm looking at this with some education.

It will be a couple of weeks before I get any meaningful work done but I'll be sure to cronicle everything with pictures...

If you put air in it enough to push a dent out , you will blow something else out, so I wouldn't recommend it .

Thanks Herb...I thought of that. I was thinking 20 to 25 lbs or less but I see your point. I'm a welder but I really don't need to hone my skills The boat sits level in the water and handles well so other than what it looks like, it's not that big a deal. I was just wondering if someone out there has done it.

Never add more than 3 lbs of air to a pontoon. Serious damage and injury can occur. Pontoons are not designed as pressure tanks.

You can use 6x6's Dent removal process

Takes a bathroom plunger, Bottle of Turkey 101 and a mattress.

Take a big Drink of the Dirty Bird and take all these out to the toon, place the mattress on the ground near where you think your going to need it.

Take a big drink and figure out the best place the attach the plunger and take another drink.

Now we ready, got the mattress, the plunger now take another a big drink of Turkey, sit it down and grab the plunger and stick it hard to the toon, now pulling firmly place a foot against the toon and pull hard, if it worked your done, but if the plunger popped off and you flew but missed the mattress, you be glad you did all the drinking.

Now let try it aggggain, take a drink of the plunger and ssstick the turkey to the toooooon, no that'a ain't right, ssstick the plunnger to the toooon , might better take another drink so you don't forrrrget.

Now glab the plunnger and pull harder than you did last time you got both feet on the side of the toon and you movered the mattress closer so you not worried, then you wondered worried about what about that time you here a big pop and your flying over the mattress again and hit the ground.

But you landed near the Turkey so you take a drinnnnk an shay it doesn't really loooook that baddddddddddd go in the house and pass out, job well done.

LOL! Thanks Herb! That sounds like a plan. The only problem I see is the dent is on the bottom. I'm going to drink one bottle first then have someone convince me that I can lift the toon up onto it's side. When I get out of the hospital, I'll probably make the decision to let it stay dented.

Laugh everytime i read that one...

Well, I started the demolition today. So far, so good. The floor looks good and the railings came off easily after I figured out it was easier to break off the bolts rather than unscrew them! Tomorrow the console and wiring comes off and I'll start removing the edges. Once it's stripped, it will sit until Spring when I'll start reassembling it.

That looks like a fun and aggravating project! I had to use logs to get my grounded toon back in the water one time and flattened part of the rear sections. I was worried about perfomance and such, and think it actually helped top end a bit! I wouldnt get anal about that issue.

I like the way you just hucked the seats off the thing into the yard. Looks like my method!!

Bently...The seats were so heavy, all I could do was tip them over the side. I'm guessing they weighed 600 pounds! Just the sun deck was close to 100! The foam was soaked as was the wood. I cut the seats up today and will haul them to the dump on Friday.

I'll have the rest stripped and the motor off by the end of the weekend, then I'll start with the carpet.

yeah i can see the mold on the carpet. looks serious i asked the my dealer what to do about mold like that i here it is common place for it to grow as that area gets wet alot. if anyone has a good preventitve methode on how to keep the mold from growing in those areas i am all ears as i don't want my toon to look like that. i bet that helped you in getting that sweet project cheap.

I have heard bleachwater mix will kill mold. This is just what I heard recently. I prefer to talk to as many people as I can ask and bug, and make my final decision from there. Hopefully there is a simple solution that works. Im banking on it, I have some mold on the front and back of my toon.

The best I found so far is JoMax, you mix it with the bleach and sold at home depots here, it kills the mold and mildew and then lets the bleach brighten it.

A lot of people thinks bleach is good but only does half the job and might make it disappear for a while but doesn't kill it
