First Pontoon
Hi,
Forums are a great way to take a crash course in something you know nothing about.
Thanks to all of you who so willingly share your experience and knowledge with us Newbies!
After 2 full days at the New England Boat Show, my husband, 15 yr old son and I decided to get a pontoon. I came home and researched thru a couple of forums and decided on the Bennington 2257RFS. THe dealer told us that the yamaha 60 would be enough for tubing. I have found out that this WILL NOT do what we want and so now I am concerned that he isn't being honest about the "great deal" he is giving us (expires today, of course). The only extras we are getting are the over valued coast guard kit (home show freebie), tow bar, keels, and bimini lights.
We are at $28,000 and I am wondering if we would be better off looking at another brand and get more bang for our buck.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

Your welcome anytime, on either of the sites just ask what you want to know and we have all kind of smart people who will lead you in the right direction.
You can read through the FAQ on the PDB site and you find most answers and a more than a few I asked when I first started on the sites

Re: First Pontoon
I have never heard of a 2257 RFS model. All the R's are very luxurious, expensive boat hulls. They're far more than $28K.
Drop back to a SFX and see what you can get for your money. And if you're going to be doing any kind of water sports, to with the largest motor the hull will take--or one size smaller. And get lifting strakes on the hull no matter what hull you're going to buy.
All a 60 hp will do is bore you. I'm old and retired, and wouldn't think of getting an engine that small.

Original post was from 2007 bama. The spammer brought it back.
