1994 Ford F150 with a 302 and automatic transmission. Is this to much for this truck? She pulls it nice however my main concern is pulling the pontoon out of the water. My truck has 350,000 kms and she gets babied. What's your thoughts. Put it in 4X4 and she should have no problem right?
Another question. When you guys put your pontoon back on the trailer after a day out how far back do you back the trailer in the water? I have never had a unit this big so any help would be appreciated.

You will have no problem I pulled mine with my Dakota for years till I got a newer one, a Cummins Diesel this time and this might be my last one, just got it broke in at 80000 miles, so now I can put AMS Oil in it.

Depth varies with ramps. Normally we sink all but about 3ft of front bunks. The key is GOOD guides to center logs on bunks.
You need to flip your receiver over to level your trailer. Your putting more weight on front tires and risk overheating and blowouts on long haul.

The 3 ft of bunk that Lakerunner spoke of sound about right. When you first back it down the ramp make a mental note of a part on the trailer to use as a benchmark ie top of fenders, water level on the guide on. I use something between the drive on and float on approach. You should not have any problem with your tow vehicle. I use an Explorer with the same engine.

I agree with LR... you want to have your boat level or close to. not in a nose dive when towing.

'99 Ford F-150 sport, 4.6 liter with auto trans, 4x4. 130k miles. The Party Cruiser makes it look like a Ford Ranger, no problems towing it home from Baltimore up I-95. We slip so it's only towed twice a season.

Now that is awesome. What happened that you had to pull them up over the hill?
On another note guys thanks for the heads up on the leveling of the trailer. I should of caught that Now my receiver is straight. Do they sell any that go up to level the trailer better. Sorry for the confusion .

"Them" was me. We had a severe drought and all the boat ramps were closed due to the low water levels. This spot is usually 50 ft under water and the bank was quite soft. I was not comfortable towing 40 miles with the bronco and knew that there was a good chance I would get stuck with the 2WD truck. So I brought both and I did get stuck.

They have adjustable ones that are pretty pricey. Did you try flipping the one you had??

Stop by a tralier place and you can get them up to 6 in raise, I needed that for my Dakota and then I got to flip it down for the 4x4
