Ok last February my brother and I ran into a booth at the Detroit boat show. It was a guy selling floating grills to use while on the water. At the sand bar, floating down the river, etc. My brother pulled the trigger( yes we had a couple beers prior) and got one, can't remember the price but it was a deal at the show. Last weekend we finally used it and cooked hot dogs, burgers, and brats for 14 people.

First thoughts after assembly was " this is just a basic grill attached to a float" . After using it we were very impressed with how it performed! It's very stable even with 1'+ waves occasionally coming in. Having the grill off the boat was actually really nice. No mess, grease, flame to worry about on deck. With my boat in a fixed position ( yes on the sea legs) it made a great serving station and pretty much everyone ate on board. We used a 1 lb. Bottle cooking all the food but I was surprised how long it lasted.

For the price ( I believe $200) it seems expensive but after using it well worth it. No mess to deal with on deck, hot food on the water, and it breaks down compact for storage under a seat on in my center log. Also this thing attracts tons of attention lol.

What, no matching sea legs for it? I think the vast majority of my major purchases are alcohol fueled. We call it "activating the launch sequence".

I'll have to share your line with my brother " activating the launch sequence" lol. Over time we've been " inspired" to make some good and some bad purchases for sure! Oh no sea legs are need for the grill, it doesn't get sea sick just my wife !!!

Ha, yeah it's a great line. I use it any time I mention to my wife I was looking at something and she says "We don't need that" or use it on friends who are way more impulsive than even me. Perfect example....middle of the summer, two year old pontoon with 60 hours on it and I start thinking about a tritoon. Tell my wife I'm thinking of getting the dealer to quote me one and she says "I love our boat, we don't need anything else!" and I say "Too late. I already activated the launch sequence." Or one friend of mine gets something and then starts second guessing...."Yeah remember? I tried to tell you back when you were looking but it was too late, you had already activated the launch sequence."

When I saw this picture, my brain said: "And then the wake boat came by......"
It never ceases to amaze me just how far a wake wave will travel silently into a quiet cove when you aren't looking!
