spurhunter,
As ronb has stated the Z71 package comes with locking rear differential and what I was telling is how you lock it in. Comes in real handy if you get stuck in mud. Follow what I told you above and you see what I mean. Never drive on hard pavement with the lockers locked. You break an axle real fast.
ronb,
You mash the gas peddle on my Z71 and it will slam you back in the seat and smoke the hell out of the rear tires. If yours is not doing that you may have something wrong with yours.

When you mash it to the floor, it accerlates at a rapid pace, don't get me wrong, but it will NOT spin the tires on pavement (the '06 AWD Equinox with 3.5L would), so will my 18yr old 94 GMC (5.7L 190hp).

My wife already wants me to look into having it 'chipped', but with 4 years and 40k miles left on the bumper to bumper warranty, I'm a little leary unltss a vendor comes right out and says theirs won't void the warranty.. (she's also eyeballing a cat back system and possibly a cold air induction kit)
It is super nice to drive, has good power though all other speeds, but take off is less than exceptional. And the stock 17" tires don't handle heavy cornering the best either

that I would get at least a chirp out of it, but no.. we bought it with 7k miles as a 'certified GM used' vehicle that had been a 'program vehicle', which I assumed meant lease/rental, I hope it wasn't a new program to see how gutless on take off they could make it.GM 2012 propaganda page wrote:The Vortecâ„¢ 5.3L V8 engine delivers 320 hp and 335 lb.-ft. of torque

I would hope the 4 wheel drive would be enough to get through some mud without locking the rear. I guess this winter will tell when hunting season starts.
