It really opens my world up being on this forum, I never thought about a boating "season" before.
Although there are certainly days when its not good to go out because of icy roads, they don't happen too much.
Winter is big catfish season around here, part of the reason I bought my toon is to be more comfortable on the cold winter days. (Small Mr Heater)
This was in mid January last year.

While you're right about Breck and Copper (which are both in the Mosquito range, of which the ten-mile range is a sub-range), Keystone is technically in the Central Front Range. The continental divide is not the dividing line between ranges - I would say that the Blue River is the dividing line in this case.

Normally we have about 2 months were it is too cold to boat. Actually, probably have more months were it is too hot to boat, unless there is some wind moving.

A week at a high country lake should produce some spectacular pics. Probably some good fishing too. Look forward to seeing the pics!

I lived in Summit Cty. for 29 years and Keystone is west of the Contiental Divide. The Continental Divide runs atop Loveland Pass. The Continental Divide is the dividing line. East of the Continental Divide is the Front Range. Blue River has nothing to do with it. I didn't see where wikipedia refered west of the Divide as Front Range anywhere.

Yeah, and I've been up there since 84. See, that's the cool thing about it. Just because everybody in Summit County says the Divide is the boundary (which they don't), doesn't make it right. What kind of logic would make the TOP of a range the boundary? Mountain ranges are separated by valleys. Gray's and Torrey's peak are specifically part of the Front Range, and the continental Divide splits them in half.

Now don't confuse the Geological definition of a "mountain range" with the Political definition of the "Front Range Corridor" - which is all those east-slope cities from Fort Collins to Pueblo. Completely different meaning there.

Look at the 10 Mile Range - Blue River on the east, and whatever the watershed is on the other side, up to Fremont Pass on the west. Gore Range? Blue River and Eagle River.

Yea, we're thankful to have southern parents and grandparents.

We usually go out a day or two in December, but pretty much stop boating the middle of November.

I was out on the lake yesterday, and the temperature was high 70's--but a little cool when you get up to speed. The sun has moved toward the south somewhat and the blue skies are blue-er and the greens greener. Except for a couple of fishermen, a Sundowner and a Cigarette boat--nobody was out.

The sunsets get better and better until 12/21--already bright orange on clear afternoons. We have 6 miles western visibility from our screened porch, and the setting sun looks like fire on the water.

It makes for a great day!

I guess that's the difference from the old timers and the PC new timers,,,,,,I don't confuse the two, I actually do know the difference. When someone would say Front Range (back in my day) he was referring to the "Corridor" but when we talked of the mountains and or peaks in "that area" (front range) we used their names. That is why I say that Keystone is not in the Front Range,,,,,, for you that would be the corridor. Sorry for the confusion on my part. Just old school here I guess.

I'll just laugh, and say "sure, whatever", and walk away. I don't know any of these "PC new timers" like you seem to.
