Keeping out of the Breeze
Question for the “Old Sea Dogs†or perhaps their mates? When the weather is cool to downright cold how do you stay out of the wind as you travel. With only a bimini top it is like being in a wind tunnel and short of kneeling down behind a sofa my mate can’t get out of the wind as I pilot the mighty ship to shore with my eyes watering and teeth chattering in cool weather.
Must be a better fix and I just don’t like to run with FULL canvas up all around. Educate the ice cube!!!!

Re: Keeping out of the Breeze
I was out on the lake last week putting my freshly polished toons back into the water--moving it back to the boathouse.
But it sure turned off cold all of a sudden. From 78 degrees and rainy yesterday to downright cold and windy tonight.
When it turns cold, I stay inside. Our boating season's about over until March. Too bad cabin fever's real.

I really do not care for the cold myself and you already have some good suggestions, but if your face is cold you can try one of these for fun?

Carheartts are great but the wiffy has trouble getting her bikini on over top of them. She was hoping for something a little more----you know----.MH Hawker wrote:This time of year I wear a set of Carheartt coveralls.
She is from the south but she just doesn’t think beachwear and Carheartt belong in the same sentence.

Re: Keeping out of the Breeze
We have a couple float coats which are actually Type III PFDs that are surprisingly warm, very dry and will keep you afloat if you go swimming. Both are from Mustang, one a bomber-style jacket the other is longer like a winter coat. Neither is cheap, but they look good, comfortable and keep you afloat.
I also have an antiexposure coverall from Mustang which is quite warm and will keep you afloat and reduces heat loss in cold water to increase rescue/survival time. Also not cheap!

Sure the air temp may be 78 today, but that wind chill factor brings it down to at least 75. BurrrSTEVEBRENDA wrote:Members from Florida are prohibited from commenting on this thread.Layers

Keep it up Ron and you're gonna have us move down there. Seriously considering a move to Fla. We have relatives in Fort Myers, Naples and Bradenton.

You would love it. Great fishing, boating, and real estate is pretty low right now. Crappy job market though.

Yeah Ed, I would say you need to escape that 3 world hellhole you live in and move to Florida or anyplace else. If that doesn't work out consider TX. He'll I would even sponsor you to cross the line into TX.
