Grills for the boat
OK here's what I want to know. What kind of grills do you all use on the boat , and are you happy with it? I'm looking at the Magma grills, the grill4all, and a SS grill from Sam's Club GR4039-014943

The Admiral says that the only kind of girl I get to use on the boat is HER. Period. Not negotiable. Quick and easy to mount .

I have the Kettle Magma, it's great and easy to use. Quick and easy to mount on rail and remove for towing.

I originally had a rail mounted BBQ (don't remember the name) but it got to be a pita. trying to keep it clean, and keep it from rattling when underway. Finally replaced it with a BBQ from WAL-MART. I think they call it a portable picnic BBQ. Anyway it has really worked out fine for us. It folds up like a suitcase with a carrying handle and stores nicely under the console. We use a silicone cookie sheet under it to catch the drippings and its really easy to clean. You can place it any where there is a flat area. and you can even take it ashore if you are beached. Best part is it only costs about $35.00, so if it breaks you are not out a bunch of money. It sure beats having to scrub the side of the boat of all the grease drippings. Just my 2 cents but it is woth thinking about

Sounds like the same one I use. When we use it is mostly onshore. Works good.sgpwayne wrote:I originally had a rail mounted BBQ (don't remember the name) but it got to be a pita. trying to keep it clean, and keep it from rattling when underway. Re: Grills for the boat
I purchased the one from Sam.s. what I like about it you can use a regular bottler of propane. I purchased a mount from bass pro that fits into the rod holder. I got the one that locks so it would not turn on me.

I had the magma kettle one, just bought a new one today. Picked up a magma rectanglular one today, with the pedestal mount.
Re: Grills for the boat
I got a Kettle Magma grill on a permanent mount, even had a cover made to fit, and a fold out table in brackets just below it.

Re: Grills for the boat
I just bought a Magma Newport rectangular grill and rail mounts. I will only have it on the mounts when coving out and cooking. It comes off very easily for storage. Only bad part is it costs an arm and a leg! It hangs over the water so grease isn't a huge problem.

I have the same one as MH Hawker, but mine is a West marine branded Magma. Love it, never had any issues with it.

and the fact that they're windproof makes them that much better. We do keep a roll of aluminum foil to cover the grill

Thanks for the info . I like the Magma just a lot $$$. Did see one at the RV dealer Saturday for half the $$$ not a Magma but made out of SS steel. Here's a dumb question you said that its wind proof dose that mean that you can cook while underway with the Magma?

we have used ours while under way with no problems. Not super fast, just while crusing along looking at the sights.

Re: Grills for the boat
I have the ss grill from sams, I liked it because it has two burners and takes a big propane tank.. I still havent built an over the rail mount for my boat, I've only used the grill on the boat once in the two years ive had it. I've been thinking about building a tray that will fit IN the boat on top of the sink countertop area I have. The tray will either be SS or aluminum and will mount to the counter top but still be removable... In the works!

Re: Grills for the boat
Thanks for the info on the Sam's gill. I tend to over think things you know
I do want the gill to be on the outside of the rails to keep the mess off the boat as much as I can. Tired of buying food at the marina's or going back to camp and fixing dinner just think that it would be faster to eat on the lake and cheaper
maybe.I'm leaning to the Magma Catalina A10-1218LS just a lot of $$$ but can buy all the parts that I need to use and take care of it. Still looking so any and all input welcome.
