Ready to go boating...but...
24 degrees, and about 8 new inches of snow this morning...and it's still snowing.
We're heading out on the 10th, no matter what!

Re: Ready to go boating...but...
Sorry about your weather, but your Summers are just so nice--both months of it.
And home is home. I understand how it's just so hard to ever get the mountains out of someone's soul.

We just removed over a foot of snow, and it's still coming down hard.
FILL those lakes! Thank you Mother Nature!
Happy Beltaine!

Bob, send as much as that moisture downhill to Kansas, we are drier than a popcorn f--t around here. It's hard to get on plane in 6 inches of water. Jordeli

Bob, at least a lot of the lakes should be in good shape for the summer season! Chatfield is full. Hopefully my canvas held up in the snow yesterday.

Yeah, but Chatfield is full because they DRAINED Antero.rsmith wrote:Bob, at least a lot of the lakes should be in good shape for the summer season! Chatfield is full. Hopefully my canvas held up in the snow yesterday.
Again.
This will definitely help the lakes. I'll be at blue mesa in about a week.
We got about 18 inches of wet, heavy snow.

Good news Bob, they decided not to drain Antero the other week.
Hopefully we're done with the snow now for the season!

Sounds like it's time to break out the tire chains for the boat trailer.

Hah! Despite 5 feet of snow in the last two weeks, the Pickup Camper is almost ready to go, the truck is ready to go, and the boat will be ready by Friday. Off to Blue Mesa Res in the Curecanti National Recreation Area!
We have put the 303 on all the side panels of the camper enclosure for the boat. and we've seam-sealed the bimini tops, now we need to 303 the bimini tops and get her ready to go!
Not sure what we're going to encounter through the Eisenhower Tunnel, over Fremont Pass, Poncha Pass, and Monarch Pass. We do have chains for all four wheels of the Galactica.

Re: Ready to go boating...but...
Holy Cats!
It didn't stop snowing until last Friday morning, but we got the boat uncovered and ready to roll by 11 a.m., and off to Blue Mesa Reservoir in Gunnison, Colorado.
It was snowing lightly as we left.
First obstacle: The Eisenhower/Johnson Tunnel, on I-70: 11,003 feet above sea-level (West end). A little snow, no biggie.
Second Obstacle: Fremont Pass (between Copper Mountain and Leadville): 11,300+ feet. Clear driving, then a blizzard around Leadville.
Pause: Lunch at a Thai restaurant in Poncha Springs. Good food, OK service, high prices. I've wanted to stop there for years. Check. Not returning (it wasn't THAT good).
Third Obstacle: Monarch Pass: 11,312 feet up. Clear and dry.
Spent three days on the lake. Even though it's down 65 feet, it's still excellent (and about 20 miles long). Great Mother's day.
Trivia: The Gunnison River drops farther in elevation in the 48 miles between Curecanti National Recreation Area and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, than the Mississippi river drops in its ENTIRE LENGTH.
