Hello Everyone,
Last week traded in a 18' bowrider for a 20' pontoon. There was just not enough room in the boat for family and friends. Also the better half did not like to go fast. So I figured that a pontoon would take care of both those issues

... The pontoon needs some cleaning, but hopefully we can get summer here in Minnesota and I can clean it up to the way we want it. Here it is sitting at the marina before I took her home.

Thanks, Mike

Damit who keeps letting these new guys in

Welcome, nice looking toon, you all will enjoy it I'm sure, my sister n law is from Anoka but has been a Florida girl for 30 years now.
You love the pontoon, it's a stable platform you can get up and move around and your not getting beat to death every time someone passes, any questions just ask and you have many answers coming your way.

Your toon looks pretty good. You may just need to clean the toons with aluminum brightener available at boat dealerships. Spray it on 5 minutes with a pump style spray and wash off with a lot of water by water hose.
If you want to get rid of the white film on the aluminum, you can polish them with a wool bonnet on a dual action polisher. My polisher is a Porter Cable and I use White Diamond metal polish. (Forget Mothers, as it's poor quality for boats.)

Nice to see another MN lad on board. Not too many of us. Maybe its because our season is only 3 weeks long

Yeah, owning a boat up there is certainly a luxury... i'd be hard pressed to justify the expense, for such a short boating season... I guess it's 'standard' to own a ice fishing shanty?

OK I might have exaggerated a bit. The good boating season is about 4 months long (mid May to mid September). We have liquid water for around 7 months. Contrary to popular belief, we get great summer weather easily into the eighties and some nineties here. It is funny when a tourist shows up in June with his parka on and looking confused.
A small advantage we have being this far north is that my days are longer than most. At solstice it is still light after 10 p.m.
More important to own than a shanty is a sled. Prime trails all over the state!

Welcome to the group and to pontooning. From the one pic, the old girl looks pretty good for 13 years.
Have fun and enjoy the scenery at a much slower pace.

Thanks for the welcome. There are things that I need to take care of and clean up a little, but that is why I wanted a older pontoon. I will not be afraid to get it dirty while swimming, fishing or just relaxing. It has been home a week, only had the time to spend an hour cleaning it up. With all the rain, and family activities planned, no time to clean it.
The places that i will use it will be in the north east part of the Metro area. Hopefully on Monday i can go and get the bottom wet.
Thanks, Mike
