Lake level is very low

#1 Post by killerkernrich » Mon Aug 26, 2013 7:47 am

Lake Isabella, Ca, is the lowest it has ever been , I think it is only got 11% of its cap. no rain, there is 303 cu ft/sec outflow an 121 inflow.
I hope I can still get my toon in may have to just back in from a spot on the shore as the boat ramps are all out of water.
I hope to go there for couple of weeks of fishing after Labor day crazies are gone home.

Dang! Our lake is still 1.12 ft above full pool. Has been 10+ above but amazingly clear all year long for as much rain as we have had. Hasnt always been that way. This has been an exceptional year for Beaver lake conditions.

I have never really understood the numbers I get when I check on the lake level here for Caddo lake.... Level is 0.80 feet
below full pool of 168.50 I think I got a handle on full pool, but I don't understand the 168.50 number...can't have anything to do with depth, Caddo is nowhere near that.... if someone can explain just what these numbers mean I would certainly appreciate it....

I'm just thankful the Tennessee River at The Shoals is so stable. We've had plenty of rain coming thru with the 3rd wettest July in recorded history, and the rains in The Smokies have been good to us. I've never seen so many days of open spillways on the dam, in spite of TVA's keeping the powerhouse running full bore.

We're experiencing a max. 1' differential in water depth throughout the Summer as water levels go up and down daily to maintain peak hour electricity production. We're spoiled to a great lake.

Im kinda the same way. Our normal is 1120.00 and we are 1121.12 now. I always assumed it was the elevation but not for sure. Anyone else care to chime in on it?

Roland, the 168.50 number refers to elevation above sea level of the surface of Caddo at full pool. For example, my lake is elev. 315 at full pool (which we haven't seen in months--we're 9 feet low).

Megawatt, thanks for the info.... so I take it from the numbers I posted above, that our lake is only down a little less than a foot? Am I reading that correctly? I know last year near the end of the season with the drought we had, the level was down to around 166.00 and you could really tell the difference at the launch with the lower water levels...
