Re: So cold in Iowa...
Dang dude! It was only -6 at my place this morning. Balmy, almost.
And, at 9,000 feet elevation, we have had several feet of snow, but nothing exceptional.
I hear about Boston getting 100" of snow this winter and think "Meh, that's nothing special.", but we're prepared for that, because it happens all the time.
Hope all y'all look at the bright side: Lots of snow = full lakes. That's how we view it up here in the rockies.

I like that glass 1/2 full attitude, BobG. IMO we have the best of both worlds here. We get lots of snow (about a foot in the last 48 hours), but we just keep it 2 hours up the road from us while the sun shines here. Then, to fill the lakes, the snow melts and hits the rivers and canals a feeds our reservoirs that we boat on. It's perfect.....All the water you want, but rarely below 70 degrees. 18 years after moving here, I'm still amazed how much I love this place! In February you can work in the yard in a t-shirt and shorts, then drive 2 hours and go snowboarding. There are several days each year where the coldest temperature in the United States and the hottest temperature in the United States are both in Arizona -- just a couple hundred miles away from each other.BobG wrote:......Hope all y'all look at the bright side: Lots of snow = full lakes. In full disclosure, though, it's about 71 today but the next 3-4 days will throw us quite a rare weather curve ball. We are supposed to be rainy and in the 60's --- that's going to be miserable, but we'll suffer through it.

Oh, that's just HORRIBLE! (Poor baby!) ROFLMAO.woolznaz wrote:In full disclosure, though, it's about 71 today but the next 3-4 days will throw us quite a rare weather curve ball. We are supposed to be rainy and in the 60's --- that's going to be miserable, but we'll suffer through it.
As we look at the weather report on the news every day, they all show, not only the high and low for the day, but the record high and record low for the day (I'm sure they do that where you live too) - and in Denver, in January/February, some days, the difference between the record high and record low is OVER 100 degrees. So, to see a record high of 70 and a record low of -30 for that day, is just how we roll here.
One of my dock buddies at blue mesa is a resident of Farmington, NM - it sounds really ideal!

The only problem with all the snow in Boston is the people 300 yrs ago were apparently as dumb as they are there today, I'ts just impossible to get around the way they built the place. here in NH we can handle the snow but it still sucks at this point.
