Been a while since I posted on here, sold my toon 2 years ago and now going to purchase a Rib boat, I know its not a typical toon but had no where else to turn for info.
Here is what it is the boat is in great shape no damage but the buyer bought it to fix up and resell, he has been very honest and the boat was either flip or storm damage he did not know the correct facts, but the motor was pickled he called it, drained of fluids and filled with diesel fuel when he bought it, he said this is normal when a motor was flooded, he drained the diesel, check all electric and efi computer all was dry and electric grease was still on all conections, he flush it out filled with fresh oil ran motor, drained and ran again than drained and refilled with fresh oil, replaced plugs, newer water pump, new lower end grease, new battery, etc and it starts fine no starter issue and he has ran it on lake and runs fine and shifts good, he will even let me take it for a spin on lake to test boat/motor.
The boat is going for about 2000 to 3000 less than its worth because of possible flood damage, he has restored boats that sank in the past and he said this has been the easy one to fix and not even sure it sank maybe just same water damage but minor, yes its a RIB so they really cant sink.
Would you buy this boat even if everything else was in great condition and ran good, the motor is a 2004 Nissan 30hp efi 4 stroke.
Or should I beware, he has been honest and up front about everything.

Here is a link to the add with pics, looks as if the boat itself has never seen water.
The lowest price he will take is $7500

If it was "pickled" it very well may be ok. the length of time is a concern. Time will trell if there is any rust in the crank bearings and cylinders.
If it was me i'd take my money and find a pontoon for that kind of money! But that is just me.

Its a risk. Water damage my take a while to show and then be very hard to pin down. Or it could be fine.
