I’ve got a 2001 StarCraft 20ft with a Poly Third Tube. While I’m underway WOT @5200 RPM 25MPH (2 adults, 2 kids, 3 group 29 batteries, and trolling motor) I get a lot of water around the transom it soaks the back deck. Is it a problem with my motor height? It’s one hole from being bottomed out. Or is the boat not balanced properly? The 3 batteries are at the very back.
Any help would be appreciated.

You think so?
I know at WOT I can trim down a little and get rid of some turbulence, but I lose a lot of speed. About 3 MPH.

Now, I know nothing about hyrdrofoils other than what I've read and half that or more comes from people who have no experience with them. The main thing I read about them is that they do work but mainly when it's on a setup that is not ideal or set up right. A pontoon with an add on log might be the definition of a setup that is hard to get right. I wonder if one would help lift the back end up some as I can't find anyone listing experience on a 'toon. Overton's has a no-drill one on sale right now for under $100.

If you’re referring to one of those bolt-on foils for the outboard; that won’t provide much, if any, benefit in the situation described.Steiner wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:39 amNow, I know nothing about hyrdrofoils other than what I've read and half that or more comes from people who have no experience with them. His “poly third toon” should be providing lift and a higher top end; unless his setup requires more power than the two-stroke 90 HP outboard can provide.
My tri-toon rides (and sits when stationary) noticeably higher than the two log ‘toons do. It has 24’ long logs, and has 225 HP.
Now, he stated that when he trims the motor way down; “it helps” but he loses three MPH.
A motor in that position does provide more lift to the stern of the boat; so Curtis’ point about raising the motor a hole or two may be the way to go with the existing setup.

Re: Excessive Water at Transom Underway
So, I moved my batteries under my console. And I’ll be raising it a hole and I’ll see how it goes. Weather looks poopy this weekend so probably next weekend I’ll test everything out.
Re: Excessive Water at Transom Underway
Standin’ by to hear how it works out.
I don’t think moving the batts was necessary; but time’ll tell!
I got my fingers crossed for ya’ Sir!
