2007 South Bay -- pictures long overdue

#1 Post by woolznaz » Tue Aug 24, 2010 5:18 pm

Back in April and May you were all helpful to me as I was considering my first pontoon. At least you were helpful in convincing me to spend my money!!!! We ended up buying the boat I was getting your input on, and at the time I promised pictures of the boat. I'm WAY late, but here are a few shots.

We LOVE the boat so far and are so happy to be part of the pontoon world -- man, I never thought I would say that. Thanks for the help and for the great site.

These pictures were all taken at Bartlett Lake, just north of Phoenix, AZ.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yeah, we are really enjoying the boat. We had some "dialing in" issues at first, but that's expected and we worked through them. Hey, it's a boat, there will always be issues, right?

Roland, that little dog is a lot of fun. We almost always have 2 little Jack Russells with us and that's just one more thing that's great about a pontoon -- very good boat for dogs. EZ on and off, safely inside with the playpen, lots of covered area so they can find shade.

Cruiser, nice boat! An '07 925, huh? Good choice! :thumbsup It's nice to know of another '07 925 owner.

LSVLance -- that's about all I have for the interior. It's set up with a pretty nice captain's chair, HUGE sun pad area with more storage than I know what to do with under it (you rarely say that about a boat), L-shaped bench, front lounges -- pretty typical layout but it does have a very large console in front of the helm with lots of storage under it, too.

Rsmith - it moves along OK, but not nearly as well as it's supposed to. I'm still playing around props. South Bay says it should run around 39 or 40 or so, but right now I can barely see 30 out of it. That's pretty disappointing, but I'm pretty sure we'll get that corrected. Speed is far from the #1 priority on a pontoon (in my opinion) but I do want to get it performing correctly.

Thanks again for looking at the pictures. We are thrilled with it so far and look forward to more fun on the water. We might even make a trip to LOTO with it next month, but we have not decided for sure. We'll be at LOTO in September sometime, but not sure if we're bringing the toon. It's a long, long, long tow when we are used to just going 15 miles out to our local lake.

Safe boating everyone!

the dealer we bought from tried 12 different pitchs and prop kinds before they found the right one for our boat, we get 34 to 35 mph with 2 adults and 2 kids with a 1/4 tank. once you find the right prop you be even happier with it. we take two westies with us and yes the pontoon is the best when you have dogs and kids. does yours have the 48" option helm or the 38" helm. is your interior layout like ours in the pic below.

To heck with that... I'm only 3 hours from the Lake of the Ozarks and I've told my wife "We are towing this thing that far no way no how..."

Cruiser, that is our same helm and layout. I had actually not seen another one like it until your pictures. That helm and sink/storage area is not even in the brochure from 2007, but that's exactly what we have. Our carpet is different and it has storage in the 3rd log, but it's basically the same layout as yours. It was a bank repo and we did not have a lot of choices, but I was very happy with the way the boat was equipped. I kind of wish it was fuel injected and had the duoprop outdrive, but that's just not how it was setup. Oh well, we still love the boat.

You are getting better performance than we are. I'm pretty sure I just need to keep trying different props. Do you recall what pitch and size you are using? With our 5.7, South Bay says we should be around 40 MPH and we just are not there yet. I am actually not all that concerned with speed, but I do want to make sure I'm propped right and not making the engine work too hard. I just want it to be right.

As for the long tow to LOTO -- it's probably a crazy trip to take. We have a chance to spend some time there in September and now that we have the boat, I know I would REALLY wish it was there. Looking down at an empty dock or a rental boat (limited to daytime use) just would not be the same. We love LOTO and enjoy it even more at night. Based on the reactions here, though, I supposed it's a little crazy. We'll decide and I'll let you know if we drag the boat with us.

Safe boating!

i will write down what prop we have on the weekend and let you know what we are using. the center toon storage is the one option it does not have but wish we did, just for the tube and other towables. with the right prop your fuel usage should improve since the engine is not being over worked.

so far i have only seen one other 925 and we cruised beside it this year in B.C when i was on holidays.
