60K is a lot of money for a boat, but if you and your cousin can afford it, than it's not too much. Factor in how versatile that boat is and how much you and your families will enjoy it... not to mention, spend 6 hours out on the lake in a bass boat, then spend 6 hours out fishing on your new toon.... so much more room on that toon, you won't be nearly as tired after a long day of fishing... as for the "boat partnership".... before I bought my toon last year, my son wanted me to go in half on his new benny, which would have run me right around 17,500. I declined... 6 months after he bought the boat, he moved out of state... Knowing my son, had I paid half I would have been waving goodbye to my son ( and the boat ) as he headed west toward texas.... The benny I bought may not be as big and fancy as my sons, but at least it's here when I want to use it.

As an update my cousin and I have decided to go 300 hp Verado instead of the 250. Why? Because we can I guess.

If the boat is rated for the 300 go for it. In the past, the 275 and 300 VRods required premium and would detune if running a lower octane (go to the Verado forum for more info). However, the 2011 300VRods will run on regular.

You will love this motor. Acceleration is fantastic, they are are very quiet and I have found mine to be fairly easy on gas if you don't get into the throttle too much.

Sounds like an excellent toon to me.

I say, if you have been fishing and sharing expenses with your cousin for 15 years, and never had a problem that didn't get resolved, and you both felt it was fair, then go for it. Chances are you both know that you will treat it the same way, like it was all yours, and you won't have a problem then.

went for a 300hp over 250 just because you can! Wooooohooo! I like your style. I'm sure we'll all be interested in performance reports and of course the obligatory pictures when you get the boat.

I guess that sounded kinda errogant didn't it. Sorry. If I had to pay for the whole myself thing I'd still be keeping my 22 year old Ranger.
I can't wait to post some pics and performance reports. I've learned alot on this forum.

I'm the cousing buying the other half of the boat. We certainly hope that this toon lives up to our expectations. This is our first experience with a toon and we both feel it is the right move at the right time. We were looking for preformance and handling and decided not to focus on price. We have tried to do our homework and feel the Premier is what we are looking for. Some may think it is a little carzy to spend 60k for a pontoon (fishing) boat and I could understand their thinking. But to us, it's not. We are looking forward to many days of great fun for both us and our families in years to come.........

Sounds simular to ours except you may have a few more gismos. What are you looking at? $65,000.00? That's about where we are at and we still need to add the trolling motor, two more graphs annd rod holders for the rails. Maybe an anchor winch.
