ill have to go and get my seriel number off the engine sometime this weekend and check that site out. I would kinda like to replace about everything I could even if I am not sure it is needed, I seem to be getting all the problems of teh previous owners neglect.

Yup, that will do a pretty good job of filling the gaps around the thermostat hole and you can get most of the water going through the block. It will back flush the system. You still may get a little wet so this is a warm day thing.

When your thermostat looks like the one on the right, you are not going anywhere. (about 4 years old) That little brass cap can break right off and it slams shut.
If you have a computer controlled motor, you are not running without the thermostat either. It won't run more than a few minutes if it does not detect the engine warming up. I managed to block the thermostat open a little to find a sweet spot and get home, adjusting the temperature with the throttle and the gauge. I keep a spare in my tool box now.

ok greg thanks and great idea, I will be putting in new thermostat's next week probably so i will be sure to as you suggested
