We have Water
Last night we got a lot of rain again and the lake is rising out of the drought and ashes. After 4 years we finally have a lake again. It's about a foot higher than normal but I'm happy. I just need now to get my boat out and cleaned and I can cruse the waterway again.

Damn Jim, I remember when all you had were plants out there. That really looks nice with the new boathouse, and now you can use it.

Re: We have Water
The yard is coming along, but still needs a lot of work. There are a couple of places where the dirt has washed in and there are holes or valleys where its washed in around the seawall. I still have 1/3 of a load of dirt and now I have to get about 5 bags of concrete to put in first and then level it out again. The cypress tree has stuff and branches falling off and they get caught in the gutters and then they overflow causing erosion. A lot of what you are seeing is weeds. I get a lot every spring then after it gets hot they die out.
But the lake looks real good right now. I hope that they keep up the spraying and elimination the Salvania, so far so good.
I will try and get the boat out of storage in a few weeks. I need to get 4 new tires, battery and have someone detail it. It is covered in mildew and I have no intrest in spending a week cleaning it. The tires are the original and are showing signs of cracking. I have to tow the boat to town for the detailing job. And I am afraid to tow it that far on 11 year old tires. Guess getting old makes you that way.
I can't wait until I get her in the boathouse so I can use it. It has been 4 years now.

Re: We have Water
Jim... that is wonderful news about the lake... my father in law had a camp on bistineau for years and I used to love to take his little stick steer bass boat out and cruise around the lake... but the last few years his boat house was sitting above dry land.. just like yours..... you say you were going to have your boat detailed.... I didn't know there was anyone around our neck of the woods that did that kind of thing? who do you use and what do they normally run if you don't mind me asking? By the way, as you know Caddo lake, the one we normally use was down very very low late last summer, so low in fact that alot of people quit putting their boats in ( me included ) for fear of hitting something underwater.... well I'm happy to report the lake is back up ( maybe a little above normal ). It was sooo nice to cruise around the lake last saturday... I know after 4 years you gotta be pumped about getting back out on the water....

Re: We have Water
Looks real good... glad to see water. The same weather has raised Toledo Bend and I am putting my boat back in the water tomorrow. It has been out of the boat house (in my back yard) for over a year. I just hope we continue to get enough rain all over the area. Have fun!!

Re: We have Water
Jim.. are you talking about bayou outdoor in bossier? That would be something for me to consider next season since Reeves is no longer a bennington dealer, bayou outdoor is now the new bennington dealer in bossier as well as a yamaha factory authorized shop... one stop shopping, boat motor service and wash and wax please......

Re: We have Water
Yep, that is the place. I saw that they had Bennington when I drove by. They carry 3 different brand toons now. Reeve's changes toon brands quite a lot about every 5 years. That place used to sell Larson and Beachcomber but went out of business.

Re: We have Water
Waves will easily suck the dirt from behind your seawall. Backfilling is just a normal maintenance with a lake lot.
Beautiful grass you have. It's nice to have a pump spraying lake water.
Last time my father had our pump going, he kept blowing fuses. Water puddled behind the seawall, and shorted out the wiring. He was too cheap to use outside Romex and too lazy to use conduit. What would you expect from a family of IBEW electricians. He could have electrocuted someone on a rainy day.
Glad you're getting back on the water. I start my detailing at the quarter car wash. It's amazing how easy it is to get the grundge and mildew off the boat and carpets with 2500 lbs. pressure.

Re: We have Water
What your seeing is not water pumped from the lake, but do have that ability, it the water from the septic tank. Here we can't have a normal septic tank. This one has two chambers. The first is sewer water from the house. It has an air pump that runs 24/7 and keeps the bacteria alive and working. It then runs over to the second compartment and when it reaches the float valve it sprays it through 4 heads out on the lawn. They say you can drink it though I don't want to try that. I have replaced 3 of the sprinklers to accept a hose and regular sprinkler so I can move it around the yard to water so it is not in the same spot all the time. I only had two on in the picture. Some of the people on the lake have regular septic and some of them dump right into the lake. The state is checking them now and making them change systems to the type we have. Sounds gross but it works well with the exception of replacing the pumps every 3 or 4 years.
