You will need to spin it up to 6000rpm to see the full HP gain IMO. Even with the tuning you probibly only gained 10~15hp @ 5100rpm. My Suzuki 140 has the same displacement and DOHC and it only makes ~115hp at 5100rpm and needs 6100 to make 138hp according to a Dyno chart I found

Plus you'll probably need to run 91-92 octane, I have to...

You make a valid point and I agree with you. Again, I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping by raising the motor I can pick up 200-300 rmps and that it doesn't blow out, ventilate or cavitate.rancherlee wrote:You will need to spin it up to 6000rpm to see the full HP gain IMO. Re: Simmon motorsports ECM upgrade on a 90HP four stroke review
When i got my boat it would only run 22 mph at 6,300 rpm
They lowered it 1 hole and it ran at 27 mph at about 5800 rpm
motor height makes a big difference.
my next door neighbor at the lake bought a new 22' Harris with a 150 and had
them raise the motor and picked up 5 mph also.
my dealer is excellent at after the sale service, They came to my lake house dock picked up the
boat, raised the motor, tested it and returned it to my dock. now they are only about a 1/2 mile from my
lake house so that helps, but good service anyhow.
If I wanted to drive a hour or two i could have saved some money but for me it is important to have good service
and i do not mind paying a little extra for that. Kudos to Dry Dock Marina in Angola IN

Well since I'm running 30 mph spinning at 5200 rpm's @WOT, there's some hope then. I'm going to try and put it in the water Saturday but the weather may not cooperate.crookedlaker wrote:When i got my boat it would only run 22 mph at 6,300 rpm

Its all cast aluminum. It will be fine. I've adjusted my 625 pound Verado this way several times, with 2 buddies. The old Evinrude on the Manitou was super easy, it was like 125 pounds lighter than the Merc is.PlaynDoc wrote:Bryden24shp wrote:....... If my dealer wasn't willing to do mine under warranty, I would use my motorcycle lift. it would raise my 900 # Street glide with no problem.Bryden24shp wrote:Its all cast aluminum. It will be fine. Re: Simmon motorsports ECM upgrade on a 90HP four stroke review
update:
So after having the engine raised one hole I took it out this morning. She spun at a whopping 5300 RPM's 31.4 MPH better, but not what I was hoping for.
It was fricken cold 27 degrees and she would blow out in hard turns. I'll probably lower it back down and chase the prop next.

Re: Simmon motorsports ECM upgrade on a 90HP four stroke review
Did you trim the engine down on turns? Mine is on the 'sensitive side' when turning. My trim gauge is very useful... I'd rather use the tilt/trim on hard turning than have the motor too low causing excessive drag.mzodarg wrote:update:

No, honestly I was freezing. I did have the motor trimmed up all the way when I made the sharp turn.joe20toon wrote:Did you trim the engine down on turns? I'll have to give it another go when the weather is better.
I'm about to pull the trigger on an enertia 14.7 x16p Prop, still doing some research.

Re: Simmon motorsports ECM upgrade on a 90HP four stroke review
Before you invest in a stainless prop, you probably should experiment with aluminum props. That is unless your dealer will allow you to return the Enertia prop and trade for another pitch prop.
At least the Enertias have pitches available 1" at a time and one will work--and they're great props. My local dealer won't allow swapping after you use'em.
On my F150 with the 15 pitch Reliance prop, I'm raised 3/4"(1 hole) off the lowest point. When I accelerate hard with the engine raised, it'll ventilate just a little--like I like it. I have to drop the trim to make a tight turn, but it doesn't blow out with the engine down. There again, I seldom make tight fast turns.

Re: Simmon motorsports ECM upgrade on a 90HP four stroke review
I'm not sure if the dealer will loan me a prop, in fact I'd say that they won't. I've read a lot on this particular prop and the tests are favorable.Bamaman wrote:Before you invest in a stainless prop, you probably should experiment with aluminum props. I'll have to try the trim when in turns, It's not like I am WOT continuously.

I have a 15PX15 enertia if you need it. $300 +sh. perfect condition. I was also planning the ECU upgrade but it will only do 10HP on my 115 motor, So I dropped a pitch. I can send it this week if you need it.
