...And now I can't sleep tonight
Oh, well. The marina has security cameras, so I assume all will be well.
Or will it?...............

Another thing to consider if it is on a lift is your climate. If it is going to freeze and you are leaving the boat on the lift you want to leave the motor trimmed down. Even a little water in the lower unit can cause big problems if it is trimmed up. Our Marina is about 70% down 30% up. I leave my inboard bowrider trimmed down and turned straight because of muskrats.

We had a rash of that at Lake of the Ozarks a few years ago. They caught the guys selling them on Craigslist and Ebay. The PropLocks were selling like crazy that summer...

And if I want to steal the prop on a lowered motor how much extra effort and time will it take to trim the motor up?

My Yamaha F150 is up all the way but the skeg is partially submerged. Hate it but can't be helped other than pulling the Toon out every other month to power was the logs and skeg.

Yep. Most of the new motors I've seen have a trim switch on the motor.
So by the theory that they can steal the props, I guess the prop being gunky will deter them.

Could the battery have a not-so-each to locate cut-off switch to further deter the prop pilferers from trimming the motor up? Or at least slowing them down. Just curious - I have the motor up to help them out

Don't sweat the small stuff; most pontoon boats are running at best a 100.00 alum prop....

Yeah - I do feel better with it raised out of the water. Especially since I understand why.
Tnx

On the Verado's they do not recommend storing the motor in the up position. The oil can get into the Supercharger and cause some big problems. If you do this, you are supposed to put the motor all the way down and let it sit for a minute or two before attempting to start.

That wouldn't be nice! I like NonHyphenAmerican's method to lower the motor as the first step before doing other things. I followed that yesterday.
