Not sure. It is the stock cover that came with the boat from Sweetwater. Does you know what they use?MH Hawker wrote:what type of material is it made of, sumbrella or a PVC covered cloth
If it is Sunbrella, can you explain the 303 treatment? Just spray it down with the same stuff I use on my vinyl seats or is there a special product for fabric covers? How often should it be done? My cover is 3 years old.

I'm not sure what material was used but, here's a link that may or may not help:Tooner606 wrote:Not sure. It is the stock cover that came with the boat from Sweetwater. Does you know what they use?MH Hawker wrote:what type of material is it made of, sumbrella or a PVC covered cloth

Here's a comment on the cover...
"This product stated "Water Repellency: Excellent" in the description of the fabric, but if any water is allowed to build up on this cover it does leak, and quite a lot (mine does). In order to keep water running off the cover it has to be very tight but there were not enough straps built in the cover to keep it tight in all the areas where it needs to be tight on my boat (typical 19' v-hull runabout with windshield and 10" bow rails). Once water did gather and sit in a part of the cover then that part of the cover has stretched and will now not tighten properly when the other parts of the cover are tightened."

Re: I GIVE UP! Condensation under mooring cover...
UPDATE:
Thanks to MH Hawker I checked out the water resistance of my cover (Sunbrella fabric) and it was no longer shedding water like it should.
I purchased and applied a generous coat of 303 fabric protector. Now the cover beads up water and it dances off like a well waxed car.
We'll see if this takes care of the problem, I'm thinking it will. Fingers crossed.
Either way, thanks for the tip. Never knew the Sunbrella fabric had to be re-coated.

If it doesn't work think of a detachable screen door so air moves better.

Well, we've had two good rains since my last post, one lengthy shower, and one absolute downpour. Aside from that, it has been sunny, HOT and muggy. No water in the boat.
It would appear that what I thought was condensation accumulating inside the cover, was actually water leaching through from outside the cover.
So far so good, thanks again to all that helped.

sumbrella is one of several types of fabrics that is concidered breathable, it lets moisture escape, the PVC / cottons dont and that causes a lot of mold, even with the renewed water protection it still breaths
give it a renew ever 2 or 3 years
