. . . let's try again -- Do you all believe that the erractic running of this engine (rpms fluxing uncontrollably between 800-3500) could be fixed or improved if I:
1. switch to a higher grade of gas or . . .
2. find a place that doesn't sell gas with 10% Ethanol or . . .
3. use an additive to the gas like octane booster or . . .
4. focus my efforts to see if the fuel pump is the issue or . . .
Still scratching my head on this one . . .
Any good gas advise ?

I'd switch to a known good portable tank first and see if it improves.

yeah, try some fresh fuel. later on, run a treatment of techron through once or twice a season.
